A Letter From The Suntones Family

Dear Grady,

My dad just sent me your website and I finished up listening to one of the greatest things I've ever heard!!! Kudos to you and your staff for doing such an accurate and thorough job of presenting the history and music of The Suntones. I know I'm very prejudiced, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciated you working so diligently to create what for me will be a tremendous keep sake. There are songs on this program that I've never heard, recorded versions I had not been privy to, etc. Gene's grandkids are going to flip to hear so many wonderful things about their grand dad as well.

The Sons of the Tones (me, Terry Franklin, Todd Wilson and Joel T. Rutherford) had such a wonderful time up in Alexandria, VA singing on the same stage with our dads recently. To be able to sing my dad's arrangements gave me a whole new respect for his giftedness and a renewed appreciation for the unique showmanship of the Suntones. My gosh, they are all nearly 70 and still locking chords that would make 90% of all barbershoppers green with envy. Okay, enough boasting about my old man and his cronies. Of course I'm proud. But I'm also eternally grateful for my heritage in barbershopping, my "Gene" pool and the musical ear that only a lifetime of barbershopping could bring. I hope we sons can get together with the guys and ring a few more chords in the future. I'll stay tuned to your website. Thank you once again for what you've done to honor the 1961 champs, and what you are doing to continually promote the art form so many of us hold dear to our hearts.

Sincerely,
Bruce Cokeroft
